Aligning Semiconductor Materials with the PC-MAT™
While our world gets smaller and smaller as a result of improved
transportation and telecommunications, the scale of semiconductor
manufacturing shrinks every year as a result of emerging
technologies. Mainframe computers that required large rooms and
massive cooling systems in the final decades of the 1900s now fit in
the palm of your hand. As one would expect, fabricating such
microchips is a highly precise and complex process.
Often, semiconductor circuits are layered atop one another to
minimize size and maximize performance. Alignment of each screening
mask is crucial to high yields. Alignment of each layer is critical
for the same reason. Automated robots are used to align each mask to
its respective substraight. Another set of robots are used to align
each screened substraight to the layer below. The PC-MAT™ material
alignment robot series accomplishes these tasks with the click of a
button.
