Identifying Ballistcs with the FASTMARCS™
Forensic science has grown in recent years through an explosion of technologies. New methods for detecting trace evidence have revolutionized the forensic industry. In recent years, ballistic fingerprinting has been added to the information gathering arsenal. Though digital acquisition technology, extractor marks, breech face impressions, and primer cap features may be categorized. Even projectile reconstruction from recovered fragments is now possible. The TriTek FAST-MARCS robot digitizes surface features on shell casings, complete projectiles, and projectile fragments to construct a digital fingerprint of the firearm. This information is then organized into an extensive database for analysis.
